Coming to Atlanta for Fertility Treatment: Out-Of-Town Patients

When it comes to choosing a fertility clinic, you’ll want to conduct thorough research. Look into the physicians, the clinic’s success rates, the approaches to care, and overall patient reviews to see if that clinic is the right choice for your journey to parenthood.

Here at ACRM, we’re proud to have helped couples near and far achieve their dream of having a healthy, happy baby. We may be located in Georgia, but that hasn’t stopped out-of-state and international patients from seeking out our help to grow their families.

Whether you’ve tried working with other doctors before or this is your first time considering fertility treatments, we’re here to help everyone.

Why Patients Choose to Travel to Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine

Here at ACRM, we make it as easy as possible for patients to travel to us for fertility treatments. With our individualized approach to care, combined with our high success rates and refund program options, we see many out-of-town patients every year. Additionally, our CCRM laboratory enables us to provide our patients with access to world-renowned research as well as industry-leading fertility technology.

We have a multilingual physician available for non-English speaking patients — however, depending on the language, an interpreter may still be needed when you work with other members of your care team.

What You Can Expect as an Out-Of-Town Patient

Step 1: Initial Consultation

First, you will schedule an initial consultation via telemedicine with one of our physicians. If you have started treatment in your home state, we ask that you send over your medical records at this point. Then in this meeting, we’ll develop a customized plan of action that is best for you and your situation. At the end of your consultation, we’ll advise you of what tests and blood work you’ll need to get done before treatment can begin.

Step 2: Starting Treatment

Our physicians are accustomed to developing a care plan that allows you to get any tests and necessary bloodwork done locally. This way, you’ll only need to be here on-site for specific procedures. You’re free to go to your local OB/GYN, or we can work with you to find a clinic in your hometown to obtain the needed tests. Once all tests are complete, we request you send over your medical records. Based on your test results, we’ll schedule a time for you to come to ACRM and complete the process in person.

Step 3: Egg Retrieval and Embryo Transfer

Patients will then travel to Georgia for approximately 10-14 days for ovarian stimulation and subsequent egg retrieval. This time frame can be truncated if the patient is able to do remote monitoring for the first few days of this process. Depending on the type of treatment, embryo transfers can occur as soon as 5 days after the retrieval process. Patients would be expected to stay the night in Atlanta and can travel back home the next day. If genetic testing on the embryo is performed, then the patient would be able to return home after retrieval and return back to Georgia the following month for the embryo transfer.
