Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine Celebrates Gay Pride By Participating in Atlanta’s Pride Festival for the Sixth Year in a Row

Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine (ACRM), an Atlanta fertility clinic, is the premiere center for LGBTQ family building services in the Southeastern United States and is proud to help LGBTQ individuals become parents.

Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine (ACRM), a Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine (CCRM) Network Clinic, will participate in the 46th annual Atlanta Pride Festival October 8th through 9th at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia. “At ACRM, we are proud to have a successful history assisting LGBTQ couples and individuals achieve their dream of parenthood,” said board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist Dr. Robin H. Fogle. “We are excited to take part in the 46th annual Atlanta Pride Festival and to show our support for our local LGBTQ community in Atlanta.”

ACRM has been helping members of the LGBTQ community build families through surrogacy and reproductive procedures, such as in vitro fertilization and intrauterine insemination, for over 15 years.

“We are sensitive to the unique needs of the LGBTQ community and develop treatment plans that are specific to each person or couple and their desire for family building,” said Dr. Fogle. “From our past LGBTQ patients, we’ve heard that the process of family building can often be a daunting experience. To help ease this process, several years ago we began offering Prospective Patient Seminars that directly address the specific needs of the LGBTQ community. We have found these to be a great success.”

The next LGBT Family Building Options seminar will take place at ACRM’s Perimeter office Wednesday, October 26th at 6:30 pm. Register here!

This free seminar will cover family building options available to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community, as well as a Q&A session. Attendees also have the opportunity to speak with the physician individually following the Q&A session. Additionally, one of our patient support representatives will answer questions regarding insurance and financial programs available to our patients.

ACRM Research Finds Fewer Multiples with Letrozole, More Pregnancies with Clomid

Clomid Letrozole ResearchDr. Jim Toner, director of third party reproduction here at Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine (ACRM), recently shared ACRM's findings regarding a study of the fertility medications, Letrozole and Clomid.

Fertility Medications Study

Researchers at the Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine (ACRM) recently evaluated data from 16,001 Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) cycles from 2010-2013 that used the oral medications Letrozole or Clomid. The data showed that Letrozole was associated with lower multiple pregnancy rates for women of all age groups. In women under 38, pregnancy rates were higher with Clomid than Letrozole, but there were also higher multiple pregnancy rates. In women over the age of 40, pregnancy rates were higher with Letrozole.

Dr. Kathryn Calhoun of Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine Pounds the Pavement for Peter

The Sixth Annual Pound the Pavement for Peter 5K raised over $120,000 to support children and families affected by debilitating diseases.

Atlanta, GA - The Sixth Annual Pound the Pavement for Peter took place Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Capital City Club Brookhaven. The event includes a Family Fun Run that was started in 2009 in honor of the life of Peter Hopkins, who suffered from a peroxisomal biogenesis disorder (PBD), a rare genetic condition that affects all major systems of the body. Peter passed away just before his fourth birthday, but during his short life he touched the lives of every person he came in contact with and is remembered for his joy and smile.

Dr. Kathryn Calhoun, a board certified reproductive endocrinologist at Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine, was one of those people who was touched by Peter. Peter’s mother, Anne Park Hopkins, is a longtime friend of Dr. Calhoun. For the past three years, Dr. Calhoun has served on the race planning committee.

This event is important to me as a parent and a medical professional,” said Dr. Calhoun, “but it is particularly poignant because the race continues to honor my friends and their son, Peter Hopkins, who was afflicted with a peroxisomal disorder.”

The event raised over $120,000 this year, which is a record for the event. These funds will benefit three organizations: The Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders, The Adaptive Learning Center, and The Pediatric Palliative Care Center at CHOA. All organizations serve to help realize the potential and hope for families affected by PBD.

Overall, the event was a success to raise awareness and funds to help families and children with disabilities and debilitating diseases. Dr. Calhoun and ACRM are proud to support this wonderful event in honor of Peter Hopkins and all families affected by debilitating diseases.
